A ship's propeller underwater

Ship servicing

Underwater hull survey, hull cleaning, propeller polishing and underwater repair afloat, under the supervision of classification societies.

Most work on the underwater part of a ship we do afloat, with no drydocking. We survey, clean, gauge thickness, repair the shell plating and the propeller and rudder. And when a dock is needed, our divers attend the ship landing on the keel blocks.

Underwater hull survey

The Shipping Register of Ukraine recognises us for diving surveys with television and video and for ultrasonic thickness measurement attended by its surveyor.

  • Survey of the underwater part with digital video and ON-LINE TV.
  • Surveys attended by classification societies, reports on their request.
  • Ultrasonic thickness measurement of the hull, below and above the waterline, with reports and defect lists.
  • Tailshaft wear-down readings and rudder stock bearing clearance measurement.
  • Attending the ship landing on keel blocks or slinging in drydock.

Hull and propeller cleaning

A clean bottom and a smooth propeller give a ship back its speed and cut its fuel.

  • Hull cleaning of fouling by hand, by machine and by cavitation. Cavitation is contactless, at 200–250 bar.
  • Cavitation cleaning of sea chests and box coolers.
  • Polishing propellers of any configuration and any diameter.

Underwater ship repair

We repair the hull, the propeller and rudder and the sea valves afloat, with underwater welding and cutting.

  • Welding of shell plating from 5 to 30 mm thick.
  • Bolted patches and box patches.
  • Cofferdams to replace segments of the shell plating afloat.
  • Sealing of stern tubes and overboard discharges.
  • Replacing seals, valves and sensors afloat.
  • Fitting and replacing anodes on the hull and on the propeller and rudder, welded or bolted.

Questions and answers

On ship survey and repair

Nothing here? Write the ship type, the port and what needs doing.

Send a request
Can the hull be repaired without drydocking?

In most cases, yes. We weld 5–30 mm shell plating, fit bolted and box patches, and a cofferdam to replace a segment of plating. All of it afloat.

Will a classification society accept your survey?

We survey under the supervision of classification societies and report on their request. The Shipping Register of Ukraine recognises the company for diving surveys and ultrasonic thickness measurement, the certificates are on Certificates and permits.

How to watch the survey without diving?

The diver films on digital video streamed as ON-LINE TV. The master, the superintendent or the surveyor watch it on board as it goes.

What is cavitation hull cleaning?

A jet at 200–250 bar forms cavitation bubbles that take the fouling off. The tool never touches the hull. Sea chests and box coolers are cleaned the same way.
