Health, safety and environment

We work to the Ukrainian law on health and safety and to international standards. High-risk operations are carried out under a declaration registered with the State Labour Service.

The staff of UWT No.1 are qualified for underwater engineering. We repair ship hulls below the waterline afloat, survey hydraulic structures, gauge hull thickness, weld and cut steel under water. All of it is high-risk work, so each job rests on a document, cleared people and our own equipment.

Permits and documents

Every kind of work and every piece of hazardous equipment has its permit.

  • Our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system is certified by the classification society Bureau Veritas.
  • High-risk operations are carried out under a Declaration of conformity registered with the State Labour Service of Ukraine.
  • Pressure equipment is operated under permits of the State Labour Service.
  • We hold certificates of conformity from classification societies.

Personnel

Our divers are cleared for high-risk work. Their health and knowledge are checked every year.

  • An annual medical examination, with drug and psychiatric examinations, under order No. 246 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine of 21 May 2007. The results are entered in the divers’ medical books and confirmed by certificates of a specialised clinic.
  • Annual health and safety training: the uniform safety rules for diving work and the rules for operating pressure vessels. It is confirmed by test records, certificates and entries in the divers’ personal books.
  • Dives deeper than 12 m always take place with a certified medical officer, a diving physiologist.

Equipment

Dive safety rests on our own equipment, not rented.

  • Decompression chambers for a working pressure of at least 1 MPa (10 kgf/cm²) for dives to 12 m and deeper, as the uniform safety rules for diving work require.
  • Breathing cylinders are filled by our own compressors. They run under a permit of the State Labour Service issued on an expert opinion.

  • International agreements on environmental safety.
